17 Jun Website For Work Placement And Professional Identity – Saffron Cutts
Aims and audience
The aim of my website is to display my work in an organised and professional manner. It is aimed at potential employers and anyone who may be interested in my freelance work. I chose this website style because it’s similar to other media publications I’d like to work for. I also feel keeping the theme simple but with creative touches allows my personality to shine through without disturbing the overall layout
I chose a quite simple theme for my website, the main colours are white and black. I made it easy to navigate by adding a menu near the top of the screen. The first thing you see when arriving on the homepage are the recent articles I published. The sidebar also shows the most recent post from my site.
My photography is showcased in this section of my website as I believe that such a skill is essential for any journalist. Whenever I’m on a shoot I take pictures of what I’m working on. I post stills from videos as well as, artistic landscape pieces shot on 35mm. I post the pictures both on my site and photography instagram (linked on the site) I feel this is a good way to work across platforms and engage an audience.
My contact page allows my audience to email me with any enquiries or questions about my work. I have also added a number of widgets to link people to my social media and other places to find my work such as Spotify.
I also created an “about” category for the people interested in knowing more about me. In this category, I talk about my experience, education and current workplace.
When you click on my portfolio category, you will find links to all of my professional work produced both in university and on my placement. As audio is a particular area I’d like to go into, I made sure that I had a lot of different pieces on here showcasing my abilities.
