I have written a data driven multimedia story that breaks down the differences between public and private prisons across England and Wales. The differences range from the everyday operations of the prisons, including violence and suicides, to the the scandals involved with the private companies that own them. My intended audience were people who have little or no knowledge of the prison system and want to learn more about the issues surrounding the sector through personal stories, expert opinions and data that has been translated in an understandable way. My intention was to shed light on an issue that is close to me using personal experiences and professional expertise.
