I am creating a shorthand piece exploring the differences, positives and negatives of the privatisation of prisons. It is a data driven piece with a big focus on individual stories from prisoners, prisoners’ families, prison officers and experts.
My key aim is to assess whether my views on the privatisation of prisons are supported by data and by others involved in the prison system. I don’t agree with the privatisation of public services and want to explore in more detail its consequences and those it affects.
My intended audience are predominantly young people with an interest in the criminal justice system or politics which is why I kept the narrative quite conversational and personal.
