My Website Presentation and Graduation Plan

28 Apr My Website Presentation and Graduation Plan

home

Hello and welcome to my presentation. When it comes to where I see myself working in a few years time, I would like to work for BBC,CNN or Al Jazeera. These are the three main news channels that I follow and trust the most. The main news corporation I am aiming to work for is Aljazeera. My end goal is to be a news presenter but I would like to also get experience in different fields of journalism once I graduate.

This is why I have created my website very simplistic so it can suit any sector of job that I apply for. I have decided to use colours such as grey and white as it is quite bold and simple. The website is easy to navigate. In the menu I have included an about me page, my CV, any video content that I have worked on such as presenting, editing and filming as I would like to show my skills in all three sectors. I have also included a print page which shows any articles I have written and also a contact me page.

When you scroll down this is what my website looks like. It is very simple and clean, it lets you click on what you would like to view and when you click on the about me page for example, it opens in the middle instead of it taking you to a different page, which I like about the design.

When you scroll down you will see the contact me page, which looks like this. So as you can see my website is very short and easy to navigate through, so when an employer goes through it they can get to the information they are looking for quickly.

I recently did work experience with the lambeth council communications team, which I really enjoyed. It really helped me prepare for a career in journalism as it was a fast paced environment which helped me with my time management. Also the work that I created varied from writing articles, to editing videos to working on their social media. So this gave me experience in different fields of journalism.

I have also did work experience at a company called Louis Thirteen, I did some of their social media marketing so managing their social media accounts, creating posts and working on increasing their followers, which I really enjoyed.

This is my CV, I have tried to add the most important information on one page and simplify it for the reader. I added a bright colour to it so it can stand out. Under my name, I described myself as a multimedia journalist as my CV points out the different skills across different journalism platforms rather than concentrating on one such as presenting or editing for example. This enables me to apply for different jobs across the field without having to adjust it to the job type. In my profile, I pointed out that I speak three languages which is a high selling point.

Once I graduate, I am planning on applying for smaller journalism jobs, so I can really build my CV and experience and work my way up from there.

Thank you for listening.
