My portfolio website – Hannah Crowe

28 Apr My portfolio website – Hannah Crowe

My portfolio is mix of my written work so far as well as featuring some elements of an online CV. The aim is to show my potential employers the areas of journalism I’m interested in which are predominantly healthcare and medical news. I also want to show that I am not restricted to these areas however, so I’ve included other pieces of work which show I’m able to write about environmental problems and give cultural commentary such as the article about my landlord for one of my submissions last year. The theme I chose is professional and simple, and shows that I can use WordPress to a relatively high standard. Everything I’ve read online giving advice for portfolio websites has made it very clear it should contain a relatively small selection of your best work, and I think 7 pieces of content is about right.

You can find my “about” page here, which takes you to the websites I’ve created at my internship via a link at the top of the second paragraph.

I used a different template for my interview to demonstrate my skills with WordPress.

I’ve made sure to include my social media feeds from my internship as they demonstrate research skills and an ability to tailor content to different platforms. I did this with the feedzy plugin.

I also installed an interactive greyscale map in my contact page which shows where I’m based, this pages also features my social media widgets.

My RSS feeds are three of my favourite publications, and I enhanced their row design to make them a little more eye catching.
