My piece is still a working progress and is currently missing a couple of interviews with other international students and international office at the university and also a media correspondent at the Home Office to speak directly on student visas, the process, how the decisions are made and the recent changes that know allow for post study work in the UK upon completion of your degrees.

These were delayed as I had to cancel my in-person interviews due to the current “pandemic”, everyone has been asked to practice “social distancing” for one’s safety and the safety of others.

I have however came up with some alternatives which will be completed in the following days, I have forward the questions to everyone contacted and while some have agreed to record themselves answering the questions both as audio and video, my Home Office correspondent has agreed to conduct the interview via Zoom.

The photos used throughout the piece are all mine.

There is also a lot more text that will be included but I build the text around what the interviewees will say.

My piece is aimed at bringing attention to international students, and their journey, as well as looking at the changes over the years, when it was a bit easier to come to the UK to study. It will also look at the lives of various students who come from various family backgrounds, middle-class, lower-class, scholarship and self-funded. There will also be focus on students that have families, or that work and study. Finally, I will look recent regulations passed to allow post study work as this was banned a few years ago and the Home Office’s to re-implement such, as well as a few statistics from the university as to how they benefit from international students coming through their doors
