Some believe that once you’re 30, you are set for life in whichever job you are currently working, and that it is too late to change your profession. However, others defy these odds and commit to fulfilling their life-long dream, no matter the circumstances.

Tracy Phillips is a 46-year-old mother of 4, who actively chose to make a life changing           decision in 2011 to begin a 7-year degree in psychotherapy, when she was 37 years old. Tracy, at the time was working part time dental nurse with two children under the age of 5 and two

teenage daughters as-well. After receiving therapy herself, Tracy noticed how beneficial therapy can be for holistic healing, which is healing of the mind, body and soul. She also had a realisation that this was the career path she was destined to take.

When speaking to Tracy about this time in her life, I noticed a strong glimmer of sheer determination in her eyes.                                                                                                                                         Tracy Phillips

Tracy said: ‘After experiencing how effective therapy was for myself, I knew that I wanted to help others heal in the ways that I had myself and I had a realisation that this was the career path she was destined to take’.

‘Although it caused some financial tension in the household, and placed responsibilities onto others in the family, my family supported me the whole way and were my coping mechanism in this pressured time’.

The course that Tracy chose, was evening and weekend based, meaning she faced many late nights and long weekends as well as having to fulfil over 500 placement hours in the little amount of small time she did have.

After persevering through 7 long, hard years, Tracy graduated her course in 2018 with immense feelings of pride and relief. However, she was now faced with the challenge of building her own successful practice from scratch.

‘I started by converting my garden summer house into a therapy room, attended ‘mind, body and soul’ events for networking and to build up my clientele and began to feel more confident in my practice’ Tracy said.

Tracy began to advertise her services on fitting platforms such as ‘Counselling   Directories’ and ‘Google Ads’, to make her practice known.

After 2 years of working as an independent therapist Tracy has become a praised therapist with a clientele of over 20 weekly clients and is well-known in Brentwood, Essex where she lives. She receives regular referred clients from other therapists and is recommended to others by her regular clientele.

Tracy now, also has 3 locations in which she works from: Bank (Central London), Regent Street (Central London) and Doddinghurst (Brentwood, Essex).
