Hunger strikers trying to get the attention of the major political parties before the general election
Extinction Rebellion activists are currently on a global hunger strike. Josh Mbu spoke to the activists outside conservative and labour headquarters about what they doing and why.

For this VT my role was camera person and a video editor. Me and Saffron have both worked on this together. We shot together and we edited together.

On the day of filming we got to the location, we set up the camera and shot a few GVs. We made sure we had enough shots for the cutaways. We shot some wide shots as well as close ups. When Josh interviewed the activists, we made sure the mic was on , it was not in the shot and the shots were well focused . We also made sure that when we put the camera on the tripod the shots were even.

When editing, we first went through all the rushes we had and decided which ones we were gonna use. Some of the interviews were so long that we had to decide how to edit them and what to use. We also made sure that there were no jump cuts and audio levels were on the same levels, we dissolved sound where needed and stabilised shots. When we filmed, we did not realised that audio was only recorded on channel 1, so we dealt with that in premiere as well.

We worked closely with Josh, who was the presenter and researcher for this story, he worked really hard and arranged the interviews. He also recorded the voiceover for the VT in the right lenght .

We all worked really hard and after some advice from Vanessa we reedited the VT so it would be as good as we could have made it.

The VT was steamed on 22nd November, 2019 in a JLDN live show.

Now over to Regent Street where our reporter – Kika Kubanova is experiencing the atmosphere and events in the buildup tonight. What’s it like Kika?

The show aired on  14th November, 2019.

For this audio piece I did some research and wrote some information about the event down. After that I headed to Regent Street and when they called me from the studio, at first I described where I was and how it looked like. Then I talked a bit about the event.
