Headline: Lack of financial aid sends students to the food bank

Studio cue: Most of us know the struggle of the seemingly never-ending administration and paperwork that comes with applying for a student loan. Students living outside of London can receive up to £8944 this academic year but the amount they receive is determined largely by their household income. JLDN reporter Alessia Sasso headed to London South Bank University to ask students whether they feel their loan is enough to survive student life.

Roles:

The members of my group were Arun Matharu, Alessia Sasso, Ellie Phillips, Isabella Ehrlicher and myself. For this week’s VT in particular, Alessia was the reporter. This meant that she showed up to filming on both days, asked the questions for the Vox Pops, and wrote the piece to camera. She also helped me to write questions for the interviewee. I had the role of cameraman so I was in charge of filming the piece to camera, GV’s and the interview, I was also in charge of sound whilst out filming. I had an additional role of editor for this week which meant I was in charge of putting together all of the clips and creating the actual VT. I too sourced and got into contact with the interviewee thus arranging the interview, wrote questions for the interviewee with the help of Alessia and wrote a script for the voiceover. Isabella was the researcher so she had made a note of the different foodbanks, companies and people we could try to reach out and get an expert interview with, unfortunately these leads did not work out. Isabella also wrote the vox pop questions. Ellie wrote the article this week to go onto the JLDN website and Arun wrote the lead-in for the live show.
