Extinction Rebellion activists are currently on a global hunger strike. Josh Mbu spoke to the activists outside conservative and labour headquarters about what they doing and why.
For this specific VT my role was the reporter. I worked closely with both Kika and Saffron who worked hard behind the camera and the editing.
On the day of filming we got to the location, we set up the camera and shot a few GVs. We made sure we had enough shots for the cutaways. We shot some wide shots as well as close ups.
When we spoke to the activists we started to conduct the interviews. Both Saffron and Kika worked hard to make sure the mic was on, the audio was good, the mic was out of shot and the camera shots were all focused.
I played a particular role in approaching the activists, explaining what we were doing, trying to understand their cause, and come up with the relevant questions.
I also helped identify good spots to shoot and as a team we would discuss and agree.
I was also vital in approaching one of the activists we met, Mickey and explaining what we were doing and I asked if we could get him into the studio to do a live interview for the live JLDN show. He kindly agreed. This was the first live in studio guest that the year 2 journalism students managed to get this year.
