Reform school exclusions to tackle knife crime

STUDIO CUE

MPs that are investigating knife crime have urged the government to reform school exclusions, warning that being expelled can be the tipping point that leads a young person to arm themselves with a knife.

Our reporter Mahira Begum and Seyi Adejori, spoke to London Southbank University to see how schools can help young people turn away from knife crime.

BROADCASTED: 25th October 2019

DURATION: 2:20

IN WORDS: young people are being expelled

OUT WORDS: in the last five years

AUDIO PACKAGE  ROLE

For this audio package, Mahira and I both went out to find vox pops for this story, Mahira recorded the audio whilst I had spoken to students and briefed them on the question based on the research. Mahira recorded the voiceover for the audio package and contacted Andrew Read for an interview. I exported and edited the audio, I also wrote a studio cue and came up with the headline for the news story.
