Rural “not spots” continue to be a consistent problem
The government and mobile giants, EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three, have a £1bn plan to get rid of areas of poor network coverage in rural areas.
The deal in essential terms aims to get 95% 4G coverage of the UK by 2025.
Almost a third of the UK has patchy or almost non-existent coverage.
Residents and local businesses in the countryside have also raised concerns over poor network coverage excluding them from the digital revolution.
Nicky Morgan, the digital secretary, was questioned on the topic.
Our reporters Adan Wardhere and Charlie Scrase went out to get a public view on the issue.

The proposed deal – which includes EE, O2, Three and Vodafone – promises to get 4G coverage to 95% of the UK by 2025.
With this package I was a reporter in this package, and also served as a producer of the package as well, going out to get the student interview and using IRN to get an expert view on the topic. I also clipped the piece together so that it sounded correct, and exported in the correct format ( WAV 44.1K ).
I also wrote the lead in for the piece as well.

On this VT package, I served as video editior on this package, I was given the video footage after Marinka, Adan and Yasmine had finished filming. Marinka served as presenter, Adan as Camera operator and Yasmine as editor.
In video editing the VT package, I attempted to reduce the distorition in sound quality and make it more palitable. Whilst editing this package, I made particular attention to put in a mix of shots including PTC, GV’s, Vox pops and some cutaways to provide variety in the VT to make it more enjoyable to watch a whole piece.
My personal role as video editior was a tricky one, but I made sure that the VT package was signed, sealed and delivered on time, and also to show my team my progress on editing to see if everybody was agreed on the final product.
