For my teams assessment piece we chose to create a radio show. After discussing several options we decided on a sports theme to our show. We wanted to include a variety of sports have several packages, interviews and some talksport style phone ins.

It was decided that James and I would create our own independent pieces based on football while oscar interviewed several boxers and for our final package seb and george secured press passes for a local football match and set about focusing their audio package on this.

Seb also planned a live in studio interview with one of the LSBU mens rugby team to talk about their recent cup success. While me and george went about planning the phone in and finding suitable and willing callers.

Personally i felt my package was aided through the experience and knowledge i have learned on approaching possible interviews, my package was on ticket prices in football so i approached the FSA (football supporters federation) for an interview which they then agreed to. Without the knowledge learnt on the course my approach would have been nowhere near as professional and i doubt i would have successfully got an interview. The only thing i would have done differently is my recording style, i recorded my interview on an app rather than in the studio which affected the sound quality.

For the show i was a producer this was only possible because of the radio studio training i have had on this course, i have previously used a radio desk when i used to volunteer at hospital radio however this was installed in the 1970s so is far different from the modern desk in elephant studios. The only fault with our show was we didn’t go out live due to some miscommunications when planning the show. Obviously in future i would ensure this did not happen.
