YOUNG PEOPLE ARE DRIVING A PODCAST REVOLUTION A NEW OFCOM REPORT STATES

15 Mar YOUNG PEOPLE ARE DRIVING A PODCAST REVOLUTION A NEW OFCOM REPORT STATES

For my final project I decided to investigate the rise of podcast listenership within young people, and to see what effects that was having on the radio industry. I wanted to find out why young people had started to turn to podcasts for their audio content rather than live radio, so I carried out my own survey and out a series of vox pops with young people to get their perspective. I also conducted interviews with a podcast creator at Spotify and the Head of Production at Fubar radio, to get their take on why listenership is on the rise with young people. My piece is targeted at people who enjoy podcasts and audio content, but it is also targeted at people who are interested in society. The piece explores how different technologies have influenced the rise of the podcast, and how we now live in an ‘on demand’ culture.
