Diabetes prevalence has been on the ascendancy in middle- and low-income countries. Currently, Ghana is one of the countries in the Sub-Saharan African Region with very low awareness levels of the disease to its populace. This project hence makes an inquisition into the underlying cultural factors contributing to the surging unawareness levels of diabetes in Ghana. Using multimedia approaches or tools, a two minute audio slide show which displays raw images of Ghanaian professionals, at-risk individuals and places are made. Furthermore, a “1000 word” news feature is created consisting of three individual audio interview clips. The journalism approach employed is what is termed “travel journalism”.
