Young Nomad leaves Everything Behing

14 Dec Young Nomad leaves Everything Behing

Student, Christopher “Kit” Harvey, leaves everything behind to pursue his passion for travelling.

“The moment I started to travel he knew it was something I wanted to do.”

He left University at his first year because deep within him was a fire. A passion so great that he decided to live a completely different life from what he had before.

“I realised it wasn’t for me”

It was difficult for him to tell his parents that he wanted to drop out university because he didn’t want to disappoint them, however in his case, it was very easy convincing them to let him pursue his new-found goal

“I was afraid to tell them but I went ahead and just did it because I really wanted to do it. In the end, they saw my passion and let me do what I wanted to do”

Christopher’s passion for travelling was honed during his young age as he looked up to his parents who were very wanderlust and as a child, he admired what his parents did and acquired a passion to see the world.

“My parent travelled when they were young. For example on their honeymoon, they stayed in India for 9 months whilst other couples would only stay for a week or two”

Mrs Harvey was shocked but in some way found herself in her son.

“I couldn’t believe it at first when he told me he was going to drop out. He explained everything to me and the boy just seemed as if he’s had planned already. I definitely saw his passion and how much he wanted to pursue this lifestyle and to be honest, I was the same when I was in Uni but I never got to do it. If he’s happy, I’m happy as long as he comes back home safe.”

Kit experienced many different cultures and indulged himself in it.

“I love getting stuck in the different cultures. A lot of these countries are a lot poorer than the UK and they’ve got a lot of poverty, some of them but It’s not for everyone, a lot of people when they go away, they want to stay in 5-star hotels.”

He was humbled in the process and understood the privileges that people had in 1st world countries and learning more about the world as he travels.

“It was eye-opening”

Some wisdom he gave me and to everyone during the interview.

“just get stuck in with the culture, enjoy the moment, don’t worry too much,
just enjoy where you are, talk to every you can.
You meet so many different nationalities, everyone’s got their own background,
everyone’s got their own story and it makes you appreciate what you got,
not everyone has got an easy life like us in England, you realise that
life is not just what we got here in England.”
