Ananda de Morais Radio and VT submission

13 Dec Ananda de Morais Radio and VT submission

How the MeToo movement is helping sex workers speak out.

In this VT we spoke to the President of the Goldsmiths MeToo society, we also went out and caught some Vox Pops with people on the street.

Broadcast date: 6th December 2018

My role for this VT was being the reporter but on top of that I also had to edit the VT for the show, find the expert interview, finding location to film and one of the Vox Pops. Being the reporter meant I had to memorise the script and also do the voice overs for the GVs. I edited the VT for the live show, I had to edit it on the day of the live show and add the voice over as well. I also found the expert interviewee, I found Candice James who is the President of the MeToo society at Goldsmiths University. Another I contributed to was the Vox Pops, as I went out and found someone to answer one for us. The last thing I helped with was looking  for a location to film, which is the first scene of the VT. Lorna was the camera woman, she filmed all the GV’s, my piece to camera and the expert interview. She also helped find the location and do the research for the VT. Lorna also wrote the scripts for me to read out on my piece to camera and voice over. The VT I am uploading has also been edited by Lorna as it had to be cut short to 2 minutes instead of the original one that was aired. She also helped ordered the footage of the original VT and decide what clips to use. Bethany edited the 300 article written by Amira which was posted on the JLDN website and she also helped to the research for the VT. Amira wrote the 300 words for the website. Youness filmed a Vox Pop for the VT.

News bulletins (00:47 – 4:12) read out by Izabel Rose and written by news editor Ananda de Morais

JLDN News Show 26 Oct 2018

For the radio show I had the role of News editor. I had to take this role on as the News editor for the day wasn’t available.  I had to learn how to do the running order for the bulletins. Running order had to be done and up every half an hour. They start at 12:00 all the way to 15:00. At 15:00 is when the radio show airs, so the bulletins also have to be done for then. The bulletins and headlines have to go on air every 30 mins, bulletins first at 12:00 and headlines followed at 12:30. Being a news editor meant I had to keep up with IRN which is a news website that tells you the latest bulletins and headlines. I had to make sure I was up to date with it. These are the stories from the bulletins the first story is on accusations about the new benefit system, followed by Prime minister refusing to comment on Sir Philip Green’s accusations, a small plane in Brighton crashed no injuries mentioned, 7 month old baby dies because of the cot he was sleeping in and the manufacture is facing jail time, plane carrying Harry and Megan forced to land, Kent police confirmed missing mum of 5 police think she’s been murdered, and final story Ireland voting for new President.
