Natwest employee fraud case continues

29 Nov Natwest employee fraud case continues

The trial of former bank employee and his co-conspirators continues today at Southwark Crown Court as witnesses gave evidence.

New Cross resident and former Natwest employee Jefferey Adekoya was back for his fifth day of court. Joined by Asley Mohammed and Wemdy Ibhagbemien who were charged with ‘conspiracy to commit fraud’ and Alexander Ogun-Moweta, who like Adekoya, was charged with fraud.

Three of the arresting officers were in court today to deliver evidence. D.C. Connor, D.C. Hughes and D.C. O’shea were present along with Esther Mombay who served as a witness and character witness for former best friend Asley Mohammed. The police were questioned by Mr. Underhill, the defence attorney of the accused. Mr. Underhill asked them about what they recalled from the day of the arrests but as the incident happened more than two years ago, they could only agree with what was written in their reports. Ms. Mombay on the other hand had a lot to say about her lack of knowledge on the case and her relationship with Mohammed. Mohammed had accused Mombay of accessing her card making withdrawals around London as she was living with her at the time. The witness disagreed saying “I never knew her pin and she didn’t know mine”

Judge Taylor adjourned the trial until tomorrow where they will reconvene.
