29 Nov Man charged with using threatening language at Rush Hour on the tube

A man from London in his 40s has appeared today at the City of London Magistrates’ Court after being charged with using threatening and abusive language towards a young lady on her way home from work earlier on this year.

The defendant, Ravi Bhatia was stood on the platform at London Bridge’s Jubilee line tube stop on the 20th June 2018 during rush hour when the plaintiff Katalina Selnar tried to squeeze past a gap close to Bhatia so she could continue her way down the platform. The defendant supposedly pushed past the victim and proceeded to say she had no manners as well as a numerous amount of expletives and offensive language.

Both parties appeared in court to give evidence, and Bhatia entered a plea of not guilty and claimed the accuser Selnar swore at him and started the situation himself.

Selnar’s evidence matched up quite accurately to her statement whereas during his evidence, some of his statement did not match up to what he was telling the court.

After a very short hearing, the judge found the defendant guilty for the crime and forced him to pay damages and court fees of £220 as well as a suspended 12 month sentence.
