DNA found in glove “confirms” teenagers involvement in fatal stabbing

29 Nov DNA found in glove “confirms” teenagers involvement in fatal stabbing

17-year-old Lord Promise Nkenda was stabbed up to 15 times in the head, chest and back after being struck by a car on 14th February in Canning Town. The defendants Ishaq Abdille, Ephraim Idris, Shemar Dawes, Anton Muir, aged 18 and a 15-year-old boy who can’t be named for legal reasons, all deny murder.

It is alleged that Nkenda was walking home in Newham when five people driving a high jacked BMW mounted the pavement, accelerated and hit him. CCTV shown to the jury at the Old Bailey shows the teenager getting on his feet before being chased down an alleyway, then followed four who had just exited the vehicle. He later died at the scene.

Prosecutor Alan Kent told the jury today that in the investigation pair of latex gloves were found with a knife near the crashed BMW on the 16 February, just two days after the attack. The gloves contained DNA matching to Mr Dawes “confirming his involvement at the scene.”

The jury also heard from the defence lawyer of Mr Dawes and Mr Abdille, who went onto denying any presence or involvement in the attack.

The trial continues.
