29 Nov 29-year-old man gets banned from Startford for two years

Carlos Pinto Chaves, a 29-year-old man from Wakefield Street, East Ham, has been banned from the Stratford area for two years after being found with a knife inside a stolen car.
In March 2018, Carlos Pinto Chaves tried to escape the police after being caught driving a stolen White Hyundai ix35 with fake number plates in Portway, Plaistow. He was later caught by officers who had also found a knife inside the stolen vehicle.
Detective Superintendent Zena Marshall from the North East Area Borough Command Unit said: “We will continue seeking these orders as part of our strategy to tackle crime.”
Even though Mr Chaves pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods at Stratford Magistrate’s Court, the charges for carrying the knife were later dropped due to a lack of evidence.
On Thursday, 22nd November, Mr Chaves attended Stratford Magistrates’ Court after failing to show up to his first sentence. He was convicted by the court to 12 months of community order and 120 hours of unpaid work. He was additionally prohibited from being in Stratford with more than two people, and banned from Westfield Stratford, the Broadway, The Mall, Stratford and West Ham parks for two years.
