The class was split in two groups, group A and group B. Group A was the presenting group and Group B was taking care of production.  I was in group A as I managed the mics.

Sam Batty taught us how to use the interactive equipment and how-to mic up people then how to control the mic channel’s volume when doing the actual live shows. This week we all had practice using and getting comfortable with the equipment.

On 2nd of February we had training week for the radio show, it was the same run through as the live video shows, our roles were delegated, and we were taught about what happens on a radio show.

WEEK 2 – FEB 5 – FEB 9: training week

Week two was the last training week, on Monday we were split into groups, where would make talk about what we needed to do for our shows for Tuesday and Friday. We were also split into groups for our VT which included video, audio and written piece each week. In my group I had Jordan, Jihan and Eva.

The second half of the lesson my group planned what we were going to do for our VT and we all had a role assigned my role was to edit.

On Friday lesson we were planning on what we will do for our radio show, we looked at inception and how to use that software. However, my group had to leave early due to us filming our VT.

Week 3 – Feb 12 – Feb 16: Fake news

On week 3, I had to edit my VT for my live shows, however the audio and the video did not match, and they were on different files, however I completed this task on the 12th of February after my Monday lecture.

On Tuesday we had to prepare for our live show, we had a 30-minute live show, we also had guests. Eva made last minute changes on our VT, however unfortunately our VT file wasn’t saved, we had to do it all over again, which took a lot of time. Finally, we all worked under pressure to meet target and the VT was finally finished before 3PM.

I was on the Mics, after I had mic’d everyone up I began working on the production team for our live shows.

For our radio show there were a fair amount of people coming in and out of class, everyone had a role those who didn’t have a role, went home. I was one of the people who went home.

Week 4 – Feb 19 – Feb 23– Preparations for Winter Olympics

In week 4, we looked at our live shows on Youtube, LJ was thoroughly disappointed due to how our live shows turned out. We all got a note pad and started critiquing our work this is because we can improve it for next week

I did not attend the rest of the week due to my close aunt passing away.

Week 5 – Feb 26 – March 2 preparations for local news (live shows)

We decided to take a week off to prepare for our live shows and make VT’s, due to people not attending and working hard enough.

In week six we had to find local news in southwark, my VT group found an art exhibition for women in third world countries, therefore Jihan and I went to the art exhibition itself and started filming I also did the voice over for the VT.

Week 6 – March 5 – March 9 Local News show week

In week six, Rhea and I were sofa presenters for our live shows, however on Tuesday we needed a guest, so we went out to student union to find a local Southwark resident, who was a part of a charity, to come in and talk about local news in Southwark.

When we came back, autocue was already written up therefore we went through it during rehearsals and practiced. When our guest came we still had one-minute left, the director said to us we should ask our guest some more questions on the spot that weren’t already written on autocue, this put us on the edge of our seats as we were not prepared, however the show went quite well.

Week 7 – March 12 – March 16: Preparations for Homeless week

For the homeless live show preparations my group decided to do a one-minute video on the big issue, my role was to edit, unfortunately this week my group could not get any interviews for our VT, however we had one of our group member Jordan to do a voice over.

Jihan and I finished of the editing for our one-minute VT on big-issue magazine, which is a homeless magazine, just in time for our live shows.

The homeless live shows went well.

Week 9 – April 16 – April 20: first day back from our Easter holidays

In week 9 it was our first day back since our holiday, we were told, that we will have our live shows in two weeks, we could choose the topic we want to do, and have fun with it.

Everyone had a role, I was assigned the ‘bulletins’ role, we all worked in our groups to choose what we will do for our last VT, we were in our original group and decided what summer VT we will have. We decided on doing ‘how to prepare for a summers festival’.

Once we had spoken about our live shows, also we had a deadline for placement evaluation, where LJ spoke to us, and told us what to include for our evaluation.

Week 10 – April 23 – April 27: preparation for a final live shows and deadlines

This week we worked on our placement deadlines and had meetings with Micheal about our career plan and CV, I found out that we could choose our group, however everyone was already in a group and had their roles for their VT already assigned.

Week 11 – April 30 – May 4: the last live shows

We had a meeting on Monday, however four people attended, who were Me, Rhea, Lucy and Khaola, this meeting was about our last show. Rhea and I decided to go to the student union and find an event that was happening in our university to film for our VT.

When we went, there was wine and cheese night, we had to sit in our student union till 6:00pm as that’s when our event started, by the time we finished filming it was late and we did not have time to edit our VT.

The next day was our final live shows, I did not feel very well however I let Sam Batty know and came in nevertheless as I was the bulletin presenter. When I came in rhea and I went to the editing room to edit our VT. Once that was done Sam came in, as I had to look at what news I was reading as I was the bulletin presenter.

As I was not feeling well I could not preform to my best abilities, LJ helped me changed some of the words, so I could read better however I was very nervous and couldn’t breathe properly. Nevertheless, I did complete my task as a bulletin presenter.

For our last live radio show, my role was to go out and find out what people were doing for bank holiday Monday. Leyna and I did a Vox Pox and tried to get as many people as I could. The presenters were Ashley and Georgie. We also did a music playlist for the summer.
