- Mass shooting in the last 50 years in America (1966-2017)
- Bill clinton passed a law in 1994
- The ban took effect September 13, 1994 and expired on September 13, 2004 by a sunset provision. Since the expiration date, there is no federal ban on the subject firearms or magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition.

Why and what I’ve picked ?
I’ve decided to pick to do the mass shooting in America over the 50 years because it’s something that is still happening in America today. According to data from the Gun Violence Archive, a total of 57 mass shooting incidents have occurred as of April 3.
UPDATED 27/4/17:
According to data from the Gun Violence Archive, a total of 67 mass shooting incidents have occurred as of April 22.
Tuesday 24/4/17
I decided to start writing my story on the gun law in America and mass shooting.
Friday 27/4/17
I’ve emailed a professor at an American university UCL.
Dear Professor Volokh,
I’m a London South Bank Journalism student, and as part of my project, I am writing a story on mass shooting and gun control in the US, and I would like to include your comments on a couple of issues.
-Do you think that the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, introduced by president Clinton, was the main contributing factor to mass shooting decrease evident in the data?
-How do you feel about the ban being brought back now? Would it be affective on today’s society to help and try stop shooting?
I would appreciate it if you could send me your comments by next Friday 3/5/2018.
If you prefer, I could also call you at agreed time to discuss this over the phone.
Thank you in advance for your help
Kind regards
Ananda de Morais
He replied to me with this,
I’m unaware of any real mass shooting decrease evident in the data at the time of the 1994-2004 ban — or of any studies that show that the assault weapon ban was responsible for any decrease in homicide or crime of any kind. Partly because of this, I’m skeptical that a revival of the ban will do any good; I discuss this in a bit more detail at https://reason.com/volokh/2015/12/08/why-bans-on-so-called-assault .
then sent me another email with this,
See also this item by a colleague of mine who is a gun control supporter: http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-winkler-folly-of-assault-weapon-ban-20151211-story.html
So I can use these to back my story up, I’ll have to add attribution to it as well so they know it was taken from their post.

Had a discussion with Michael, and now i know exactly what i’m doing. I’m doing how the assault weapon ban in 1994 to 2004 affected the crime rate and mass shooting.
I finished writing my story.
Tuesday 1/5/18
I started my infographic and I chose to use Pikochart to create it on.
I finished my infographic.
Tuesday 8/5/18
I’ve edited my infographic as michael said it was good but need a few changes and my story has been changed a little bit too. Nearly finished. 30 more words to go and I will have finished my story.
I finished everything and found a reusable picture from google that I’m using as my featured image
