Week 1 – I was absent this week
Week 2
Monday – Introduction to the week, I got into my group and we discussed and planned some VTs to do over the next couple of weeks, My group started to write up our written piece on fake news, we started to talk about if there if any law in Europe which tries and stops fake news from being published. I watched a video on how to make the perfect VT.
Tuesday – I got given the role of radio producer, I started to think about what i want in the show and gave out some roles for people to do. I gave Ella and Georgie the job of getting interviews after the live show next Tuesday so we can include it in the radio show on Friday. I carried on working on the written piece with my group.
Friday – I made the running order for the radio show, I checked up on everyone to see if they knew what they were doing for the show on Friday. I spoke with the presenters and prepped them for what the show was going to include. I sat down with Michael as well and we made final decisions and discussed again what should be in the show. I also worked with my group on our article on fake news.
week 3
Monday – I got in my group and we discussed what we were doing for next weeks VT on the winter olympics. We wrote down some ideas, we decided that we are going to do a explainer on north korea at the olympics.
Tuesday – My group finished writing up the article on fake news. I helped Jason write up the quiz that will be used in the live show today. I extracted the audio from a VT so it is ready for the radio show on Friday.
Friday – I held a meeting in the morning to talk to the class to give out the jobs I need to be done for the radio show today. After this was done i sat with the presenters to discuss what was going in the show and started to think about scripting. We was having a guest in so we did some research on her so we could come up with some questions to ask but unfortunately the guest did not show so we had to cut that out. I went round the class during the day to see how everyone was getting on and making sure they are uploading to dropbox ready for the radio show. Once everything was uploaded, i went into the radio studio to set up and get prepared to go live at 3. As the producer i then played out all the packages and the show ran very smoothly, nothing went majorly wrong. After the show i uploaded it to dropbox and then put it onto the JLDN soundcloud.
Week 4
Monday – Absent
Tuesday – Absent
Friday – I held a meeting in the morning to discuss with the class what was going in the show today, i gave out jobs for people to be working on for the show, I created the running order on inception so everything is ready for people to start writing the intros for their audio packages. I then wrote the intro and outro for the show. I listened to all the audio packages to make sure it was all correct and there was no problems. I then sat with the presenters and discussed the final running order ready for the live show. I finalised the scripts and printed them off. After the live show i uploaded it to soundcloud.
week 5
Monday – We had a meeting in the morning and it has even decided that we were going to have the live show every two weeks now as my classmates and I are struggling with all the work, so now we have a bit more time to produce our VT packages. I discussed with my group ideas of what we could do for the following show which was about southwark local news.
Tuesday – no class today but tomorrow my whole class are going on a trip to do an escape room near kings cross. The idea we had for our VT fell through as the woman at the posh club said we had to volunteer first which was very annoying.
Friday – Snow was too bad to make it into class
week 6
Monday – My group was meant to film today but we received an email from the posh club saying we had to volunteer first before we film anything and obviously with the show being tomorrow we didn’t have time to organise another VT.
Tuesday – we had an editorial meeting this morning and my group told the director that we could not made a piece in time as the posh club let us down. me and my group was going to go out on the day as i was on the day reporter and get a story but the director of the show said there was enough content already, so I just hung around until 3pm in case anyone needed my help with anything
Friday – I was on the day reporter for radio so we had a meeting in the morning and there was enough stories to fill the show, so i was available to anyone who needed help, for my groups piece, i helped them edit the last final bits of the audio ready to be uploaded to dropbox and i was looking for some headline for the news bulletins.
week 7
Monday – we were told the that following show was going to be on homelessness so i thought of the idea of reporting on a new app called street link. Me and lily decided we was going to work together from now on as the rest of our group never turned up. The app is where you put information about where you last saw a homeless person and the time and the local council finds the homeless person and offers the shelter whilst taking appropriate steps to help aid the person.
Tuesday – We discussed that the news peg of the piece was that society is going cashless so what else can LSBU students do to help. we started tho think about how and what we was going to include in the VT and when we would be filming. We filmed that day us using the app and how it works and agreed to film the rest next week. We also interviewed Maria Lustikov a halls ambassador at London Southbank University, she spoke about how she helps the homeless and why she would not use the app.
week 8
Monday – We had an editorial meeting in the morning and discussed where everyone was with their VT packages for the show. Lily and I had already filmed most of our VT but still had a few more shots to get so we went out to find a homeless person to get his or her thoughts on the app. We did ask a few but they did not want to talk about the app and would keep coming off topic so we decided to just get some GVs instead and put in a voiceover.
Tuesday – I started making final edits to our VT ready for the live show at 3pm and after i was done with that i was free to help everyone else as there was enough content for the show I had no specific role. I started helping set up the studio, making sure the tables looked tidy in the cameras and wrote some script for the presenters. I did accidentally upload the wrong format so when it played out live it looked poorly edited that was my mistake and i have learnt to always double check and make sure its right first time round.
Friday – No class as it was submissions
week 9
Monday – Bank Holiday
Tuesday – It was the first lesson back and I got back straight into uni mode and sat with my VT team, The class discussed their ideas on what they were thinking of doing for the live show that will be taking place in the next few weeks as on Friday we have one to one sessions with Michael. We got given two weeks until we had to have our vt packages done by so Jordan, Hannah, Jason, lily and i all teamed up to make a new group.
Friday – one on one session
week 10
Monday – I came in too uni and finished up my work which is due in tomorrow for the placement evaluation module. My group had a brief discussion on ideas for the VT we have to make.
Tuesday – I came into uni early to re read over my work and submit my work. My group thought of idea to do a story about radar radio coming off air due to not treating their staff appropriately. We started jotting down what we was going to include and when we was going to do it. Lily is doing a work placement at radio called Worldwide fm so we thought it would be a good idea to interview lilys boss about the recent headlines
Friday – I started to gather my further evidence for my project to send to the exam board
week 11
Monday – I was absent
Tuesday – I came in first thing and started editing the VT with jason that hannah, jordan and lily filmed yesterday. Hannah and lily helped me with ideas of how i should put the VT together and once i knew what i was doing it didn’t take me too long to complete the editing and get it exported and uploaded to dropbox to play out for our last live show. I was not feeling too good so i did leave after i finished editing but watched the live show from home and it was great.
Friday – I had no set role so I was just in class doing some work and helping out here and there if anyone needed help
week 12
It is submissions week and this is going to be my last ever assignment. There was a whole course meeting which i unfortunatly couldn’t make but heard that the video that LJ made was a great laugh and filled with lovely memories. Me and my VT group went out and made another video to submit for our final assignment. Myself, Jason, Hannah and Lukas went out to film about the underbelly festival that is located on the south bank. I finished my editorial log and kind of happy that its all over but I will miss it very much.
