Evaluation of live news days 1 and 2 – Presenter

01 May Evaluation of live news days 1 and 2 – Presenter

I have chosen to evaluate myself on live news days 1 & 2. On both these news days I was a sofa presenter which I volunteered to do however did put me out of my comfort zone. This role involved me taking part in all aspects of the show from thoroughly watching VT’s so me and my co-presenter Georgie could ad-lib about them if need-be, editing scripts written by Jordan so that it suited mine and Georgie’s tone and researching guests and on the day news stories so that we had plenty of topics to talk about.

The 30 minute show involved a lot of elements to contend with such as a live audience, three live guests, a Skype guest, various VT packages and on the day stories.

Throughout the show we faced some problems. The audio wasn’t working on the Skype interview so me and Georgie were having to lip read, one of our guests turned up half way through the live show and we ended up running out of time!

I really enjoyed presenting and definitely took on constructive criticism that was given before the show:

  • To interact more with Georgie
  • Smile to the camera
  • Make eye contact and move whilst on the sofa

We had a live audience full of perspective students so the pressure was on to perform!!
