50 SHADES OF BEIGE – A STRUGGLE FOR PEOPLE OF COLOUR – NOSHEEN HUSSAIN

Finding a perfect foundation shade is an overlooked subject. This should-be simple task is nearly impossible especially for people of colour (POC). The makeup industry has always shown lighter skin to be the definition of beauty, and makeup companies have also have had limited foundation colours – the darkest shades being up to a dark beige. I worked in a makeup store called 3ina, and it was incredibly embarrassing when I couldn’t find shades for customers. With Fenty Beauty releasing last year, brands have no excuse to step up their game.

 My intended audience will be the anyone who likes makeup whether it is a POC who can relate to someone who couldn’t relate as much to educate them.
