Final website submission – Lukas Gerve

For my website’s navigation I opted to present all of my content in an infinite scroll manner – this reduces the clicks needed to navigate around the site, and keeps the visual layout mostly consistent across desktop and mobile environments, ensuring that the site looks good on whatever device it is accessed from. Many music-focused sites also use this presentation, so I thought it would be a good idea to display my content in a similar manner.

My categories are brief, but descriptive to aid with the navigation – there are only four of them.

I chose a dark background for my site – the featured images and hyperlinks contrast nicely in colour, directing the reader’s attention toward the content immediately. I also used some HTML elements to add icons for my various social media, some of which are specifically music-related, keeping with the theme of the blog. The icons are also dark and consistent, so the style meshes well together. Moreover, the social links are visible on the right hand side of any page and article, due to the simple navigation.

Furthermore, I also curate a Spotify playlist that is always visible on the sidebar, as well as the Pitchfork RSS feed, both of which further develop the blog’s theme.

I also kept a consistent style across all of my posts – from the title and standfirst, to including a final score and streaming links at the bottom of reviews. My CV and some information about me, as well as my contact details are on the ‘About’ page.
