Man stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death over child support payment in South London

Mark Morris plead guilty to the murder of his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, Emma Day

Mark Morris, 39, stabbed the mother of his children and ex-girlfriend Emma Day, 33, this May, while she was walking home with her children and a friend around 6 in the evening. Morris was drunk and hiding in an alleyway right off of the road waiting for Ms. Day. The murder weapon was a kitchen knife which is he stabbed her with repeatedly in the back and across the throat. After running away after the attack, Morris called 999, claiming that he had heard Day was injured but that he was not around. The row was apparently over Mr. Morris refusing to pay child support for his and Ms. Day’s 6 year old daughter. It was revealed in the court that just months before his attack on Day, Morris had said while speaking about paying child support, “I’ll go to prison before they get a penny from me.” Originally Morris was charged with manslaughter but this was rejected by the court and he is now being charged with murder.
