14 Dec HM Woodhill prisoner remanded in custody for Northamptonshire assault- court report

Mr A J Shury, from Northamptonshire has been remanded in custody for an assault that took place in Northampton.

Mr Shury, despite also currently serving a forty week prison sentence in Woodhill prison in Milton Keynes for a previous conviction, has been held on remand before his trial for an assault.

Prior to appearing via a video link from HM Woodhill Prison to Northampton magistrates court to three magistrates judges, the defendant and his team had put in an application to have the trial adjourned.

The Magistrates court approved the defendant’s application for an adjournment and the assault trial has been pushed back from the 7th December to the 3rd January instead.

Mr Shury has been ordered to be remanded in custody until his trial is adjourned for sentencing on the basis of causing further offence, a risk of causing more harm, risk of interference and tampering with the assault witnesses and their statements.

When given his remand in custody conditions, Mr A J Shury joked that he was “already in prison” and it was not possible for him to cause further offence. The remand conditions still stand until 3rd January.
