08 Dec British citizen turned into an ISIS sniper, accused of possessing an AK-47 type weapon and receiving £2,000 for terrorism purposes

Mohammed Abdallah, 26, Manchester man, was at the heart of an online network planning a terrorist attack against the UK, the Old Bailey was told.

The judge Maura McGowan said Mohammed Abdallah, who has dual Libyan nationality, was leading a quiet life as a supermarket worker until 2014, the date he travelled to Syria in the role of a confirmed sniper for ISIS.

In order to receive cash and a AK47, he organised his journey via messenger platforms such as Skype, Gmail, Viber and Telegram. The network was arranged by his brother, Abdalraouf Abdallah, convicted of terrorism in 2016.

On Monday 20th of November, following the trial, the court gathered part of the dialogues that took place between the aspirant jihadists via the messaging platforms. Revealing diverse texts praising god, describing the UK as “the nation of disbelief” and its citizens being “enemies to Allah”, referred the barrister Mark Heywood.

Conversations also divulged intensions to insert firearms into the British territory: Two of the young men need weapons, please give them (…) Where is the metal?”, read out Mr. Heywood. Exchanges including colloquial language such as “Yo bro!”, Ahah” and “LOL” were found.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges of firearm possession, terrorist plot and money laundering held against him, the trial continues.
