SCRIPT

Damon Smith, a 20-year-old university student who lived in Rotherhithe, was found guilty last Wednesday of committing a terrorism act, after leaving a rucksack with a homemade explosive on a busy jubilee line train. On October 20 last year, the rucksack was left inside the carriage and people only took notice after the train had left canary wharf, which had to be evacuated at its next stop, which was Greenwich North.

People who knew Dan, say they were highly impressed by the event.

Q: “Did you know Damon Smith and how did you react once you heard of his attempt of terrorism?”

Apparently the, at the time, 19-year-old, built the bomb at home. He taught himself how to do it by googling an al-Qaida article called “Make A Bomb In The Kitchen Of Your Mom”. His mum, on the other hand, was devastated once she found that “the internet” taught her son how to make a bomb. Smith made it by using a £2 Tesco clock which was set to go off at 11am, just 30 minutes after he was recorded on CCTV at Surrey Quays, where he got on the train in the first place.
Adam Fisher, a local resident and commuter from Rotherhithe wasn’t happy when he realized how he had done

-INTERVIEW-

Q: “What do you think about the fact that nowadays people can just go on the internet and learn how to build a bomb?”

Dan Smith is now waiting to be sentenced on the 26th of May, at the Old Bailey.
