Regeneration, regeneration, regeneration.

12 May Regeneration, regeneration, regeneration.

Regeneration, regeneration, regeneration.

From council estate hell to hipster heaven, Peckham has come a long way in 50 years.

Studio intro: What was once named one of the most deprived residential areas in Western Europe has just been named the best place to live in London by the Sunday Times. Peckham has gone from drab to fab, so we sent reporter Jacob Dickinson down to see what makes Peckham the most desirable London location.

Roles:

Isla Russell: Editor

Jacob Dickinson: Reporter

Liam Terry: VT editor

Daniel Hinchy: Camera operator

My role as editor:  As editor my role was to organise my groups VT package. I began by assigning my teams roles, and finalising our idea: How Peckham has progressed from to become one of the best places to live in London according to the Sunday Times. From here I conducted research using the Sunday Times article, and several other websites, to get an overview of what Peckham was previously like compared to now, and what regenerations have happened to make this change. I then began to plan our VT by contacting people who we could interview to get expert opinions- these included the police, housing estates, and Peckham councillors. I managed to secure an interview with one of the Peckham Councillors by contacting Gill Kelly who became very enthusiastic about the VT and its outcome. I scripted the PTC, vox pop and interview questions, voice over, suggested GV’s, headline, and standfirst. When it came to filming I also booked out all of the equipment, arranged when we would film via a slack chat I set up for myself and my team, and also carried and assembled the equipment on set. My final role as editor was to give a final opinion on the finished VT before it was uploaded. I would say that I have sufficiently carried out my role as editor through my organisation of a group which are times difficult to work with, which will ultimately be reflected in our final VT.
