Week 12:

Since our final live show was May the 9th, everyone was feeling a little emotional during the Monday’s editorial meeting. We went through what each beat had done for the week and started to prep the script for the next day. Although everyone was a bit distracted, I finished the script with Nevan on time. My job was to write the short descriptions of the VT’s as well as help Nevan out with the dialogue.

During Monday, I also finished editing our audio piece about a refugee living in London. Since music sounded a bit off and manipulative in the piece, we decided to pace the piece with effects such as police and crowd noises. My Monday was spent searching and adding them to the audio piece and exporting it to the dropbox. I also made lower thirds to the whole group, as well as helped Imad with fading, transitions and the sound of the VT he was editing (same subject, different angle). Turing Monday, I also got to be in a VT about tasting different treats around the world and guessing where they were from.

Since this was not my usual beat, I got to experience a different angle and dynamic, which I liked. I also enjoyed making creative choices with the audio piece, although it was hard to cut down a 20-minute interview to 4 minutes. Luckily, the audio show Wednesday was forgiving and the bit fit in perfectly

The live show on Tuesday was our last show, which meant there were a lot of distractions. We had a lot of fun as a group, when we took selfies and were introduced to LJ’s dog, Ella. We also had special guests in our show, who were our previous lecturers. Since I was feeling a bit emotional and overwhelmed, I don’t think the show was the best I had done. However, it was a good one to finish to, and I was proud being part of it.

That Wednesday we had a last radio listening party in the newsroom. After that, we went out as a group and celebrated our last week together.
