My Role As A Presenter

15 May My Role As A Presenter

This was one of the later roles that I got to be a part of, but it consisted of me working closely with the news editor, director and radio producer, as I presented both the live show and the radio show. For the live show I worked with GCN as well, and my duties were: script writing, having meetings about the show with Canada, researching the AD LIB sections on the script, writing a mock up of what I was going to say for the AD LIB parts, making sure my clothing that didn’t clash with my co-host. I also had to make sure I was comfortable in front of the camera, and I practiced my script. The duties for radio presenting are slightly different, but it still consists of majority of roles above.

I learned many lessons from this such as how to use inception, how writing for broadcast is different than writing an article, how I should speak in front of the camera and rather than just simply reading the autocue I should always emphasise certain words, especially number figures. I also learned how I should present myself in front of the camera and with my co-host, and it should be like I’m having a conversation at some points, rather than reading from a script.

Michael gave me feedback when I read out the news bulletins, which was just that I needed to make a longer pause before moving onto the next story, as I move on too quickly, and it isn’t clear that it’s a new story.
