Bermondsey Market Place

12 May Bermondsey Market Place

Bermondsey Square Market used to house many food stalls of all sorts when it first opened years ago. Today, it only operates with an average of 5 stalls every Saturday. Some weekends only 2 or 3 may be open.

Because so few stalls have been operating as of late, members of the Bermondsey community are both visiting the market less frequently and also finding it hard to get everything they need at the market in one stop.

Our reporter Michaela Sickles spoke to a student in the area about how the closing stalls at the market is effecting her shopping and food habits.

Interview

Bermondsey’s ever shrinking square farmer’s market is truly starting to have an impact on the members of the community and how they shop for food.
