Week 9:

The week before the Easter holidays, we decided to focus on the live show after Easter. After an editorial meeting on Monday (27th), we were encouraged to go out and film our VT’s for the next show. The show after the Easter break was a Global Campus one, so we had a set theme: fake news. Making our VT around fake news in sports, we went out to film the 28th of March (Tuesday). We filmed in the Olympic park in Stratford, where Matt was the one to speak to camera. Having an idea of what I wanted the video to look like, I started to make different effects on After Affects, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. I discovered couple of tutorials in YouTube, which taught me how to make a “newspapery” look to the VT.

On Wednesday, we had our last meeting before the break, in which we went around checking what everyone had in planned for the next show. Since the new rotation started, I became the Assistant editor, which meant I got to fill in for Nevan when he was late. After the meeting, the sports beat stayed behind and we recorded Matt’s voiceover for the VT.

March 28-April 24:

During the Easter break, I edited the video for the next liveshow. The time frame gave me plenty of time to explore and try new ways of how to make a video look cool, professional or fit to one theme. I had a lot of fun editing it, although it was a lot of work. The rest of the beat was quite AWOL during the holidays, but after nagging a bit, Matt helped me to track down couple of pictures and soundbites.
