Week 7:

For the week seven, I had interviewed a mental health advocate, food blogger and a local meds student Ella Stanley who was running the Brighton 10K for the MIND charity. I asked her tips about balancing university with schoolwork, the ways she keeps fit and how she trains for her multiple marathons. I met her during week 6 and got a whopping 45 minutes of important information. Before the live show I cut and edited the audio show, recorded my voice-over and tried to get the audio squeezed in to couple of minutes of information. This was not easy and the audio did not turn out as well as I had liked. However, all of Ella’s tips have been helpful and her inspiration stayed with me through the rest of the semester.

Minding this, we had multiple problems with our VT that week. Since Nevan and Matt weren’t able to film the previous weekend and all of us were busy with our projects the previous week, our attempts to getting a VT fell short. We decided that making a live-show bulletin was the best choice. So, while hosting, Nevan went through the most important sports happenings that week, filling the gap.

During the normal class on Monday, I wrote the radio script, went through with it with Nevan and Monique and helped around with the mics, lights and the VT script. We had a successful dry run and a good live show March 14th. Producing the radio show again that Wednesday, I had a lot of fun in the studio. Michael helped me around in the radio studio and I got to control the panel, adjust the levels and the microphones and to make sure everything was under control. My job was also to record the show and make sure that all the clips played on time and we stayed on air. I enjoyed the radio experience and got good experience what it was like to be on the other side of the mic.

Also, during the class on Monday, I made the JLDN sports beat an Tumblr page, thinking it would be a nice addition to our social media platforms.
