Week 5:

For the live show for this week, the sports beat got to use my interview of John Inverdale that took place 17th of February at Getty Images Gallery London. I visited the gallery with Imad and Abraham who helped me film and check out the exhibition. The event was done by a spinal cord injury charity named Aspire, which John Inverdale was the president of. The exhibition was called “A sporting life behind the microphone.” During the exhibition we interviewed John and met multiple interesting people, for example ex sportsmen and Rebecca Gowler, who had invited us to the gallery.

Having that interesting footage of John Inverdale and his views and opinions of the sports industry, I wanted to use that in the live stream. So, for the week 5, the sports beat used the footage for our VT.

My job was to film the VT, edit it and add the lower thirds, music and make the bit to the camera. As for the radio show, we decided to go for an angle “What can university sports do for you?” in which Matt went to the Academy of sports and got an interview from Iaian Killoughery, a senior operations manger.

During the class Monday (27th) I wrote the script for Wednesday’s radio show and helped with the live show script. I also gave a hand to few people needing help finishing their VT’s and radio pieces.

The next day, I was unable to attend the live show as I had an interview with Suomen Kulttuurirahasto (Finnish Cultural Foundation), which at the time being was a struggle. This and the next day were very hard for me and I had to stay home for my own mental health. I had several appointments with my GP and psychologist later that week, but was unable to attend the live shows earlier. Luckily I had help and a good system to put me back on my feet slowly but surely.
