What is War Reporting? An Interview with Mark Nicholls

02 May What is War Reporting? An Interview with Mark Nicholls

The job of war reporting is dangerous but important, click play to hear if the job is as cool as it sounds.

Everyone has at a point in their life sat down and watched or read in shock; news of wars around the world, but there’s a group of brave people, who venture out to war torn countries to relay to us the reality of what is happening. War reporters and correspondents have always played a part in British history in relaying the harsh realities, losses and victories from the front lines of battle and war.

I am joined by award winning war correspondent Mark Nicholls, who until recently was a reporter for the Eastern Daily News, one of England’s biggest selling regional morning newspapers.

Mark has reported from the front lines of Eastern Turkey, reported from the no-fly zones in Northern Iraq, covered regiments fighting in Kabul, and sailed with marines on security patrols on the Persian Gulf. Today he is a freelance journalist with an interest in travel journalism.

I sat down with Mark to find out the ins and outs of the war reporting industry, to find out what really happens when you become a war correspondent.
