Natalie da Silva, the owner of Life of a Cameo says that writing a blog is “like writing a diary” and that she is now more “consistent” with her blog than she was in the beginning. Natalie’s blog is a mixture of fashion and lifestyle and she has now been blogging for 3 years. Her blogging career started when Natalie was still in college. Her interest for fashion/lifestyle blogging came from having to start a blog in media class in college. She says, “I’ve got really into it, I really enjoy this, I see myself doing this” and from then on up until today she produces regular posts for Life of a Cameo.

Although blogging is not the main form of Natalie’s income, she says that she’s had some sponsors asking her to review products such as sunglasses and a watch for free which “was cool”. Even though blogging can seem like an easy way of earning money with 14%of bloggers earning a salary and becoming popular, Natalie says that one of the skills to be a fashion/lifestyle blogger is consistency. She also says that for the blog to be successful, it needs to be “promoted a lot, because not a lot of people are going to see it unless you tell them about it and social media is the best way to do it.” Natalie also advises to write about what interests you and be really passionate about it.

For some bloggers blogging is time consuming. It takes a lot of time to plan the posts, shoot the outfits, edit the images and upload them to the blog, however Natalie says that for her the time it takes depends on the post itself. She says that to make a blog post “literally takes a day”, because “you can take the pictures and pop it straight on.” However, the blogger adds that “scheduling it to a certain extent than it would take at least a month to plan it out, what you’re going to write, where you’re going to go and stuff like that.” At the moment Natalie only manages to publish content on the blog once a month, but in the near future she is hoping to have a blog post once a week.

Natalie’s inspirations come from everyday life. She is interested in “seeing what other people get up to”. Regular people that are interested in something catch Natalie’s eye. She is very nosy and says, that she likes “getting into people’s lives” adding “I don’t know if that’s normal”.

When it comes to managing the blog, Natalie “bugs” her sister to take pictures of her which she says “is nice to get family members to do stuff for you.” Finally, Natalie’s advice for beginners is pick an area that interests you and only then start posting “once a week” and also “tell your friends and family about it”, so they can help with promoting it.
