02 Apr Portfolio: Website – Cindy Drabaviciute

I have a created a website using the Tracks theme. The theme stands out to me in a sense that it is very minimalistic, bold and easy to navigate through. The site is designed as a blog as well as a portfolio featuring university work I have done through out the three years.

Home page – this page features a post about JLDN, the live broadcast with the university. It also features primary and secondary menus, primary menu allows the viewer to choose between six categories which some also have sub categories to divide the category. Secondary menu features two categories that did not fit the primary menu and it is an about section and university work divided between three years under different sub categories. The three social media icons appear on every page and they take the reader to my Twitter account, my Tumblr page and journalism.london Instagram page, so the reader can form an idea of how JLDN comes to life.

University – Year 3 – Semester 2 page – this page features anything I have done in semester 2 of the third year so far. The layout of the articles is easy to look at, the articles have a featured image, a title and a segment of the full article. Above the title there will be another category suggesting to the reader that the article can also be found under a different category. The logo on the left hand side takes the reader to the home page.

Inside post – the inside of the post follows the house style of the university website journalism.london. It features a title, a standfirst, a picture and the body. This house style allows the reader to concentrate on the article rather than pictures. Additional pictures would be added as a gallery at the bottom of the post. The left hand side of the article lets the reader know the categories the article can be found under and the tags.

Inside post – bottom – the bottom of the page includes a tags cloud, a comments section and an arrow on the right hand side to take the reader straight to the top of the page. The tags in bigger font suggest that these tags have been tagged the most. Underneath the tag cloud there are two options that allow the reader to carry onto the next post or look at a previous one.
