26 Jan Shout At Cancer – Ian Bradshaw’s Story

After a laryngectomy (removal of the voice box) cancer patients are left with a speech valve in their neck. Even though the NHS does everything they can to help affected people with post-operative care, they are unable to fund full therapy.

This is where the charity Shout At Cancer comes in. With the help of doctors, actors and speech therapists patients learn to win their voice back and make improved use of it. Joining a laryngectomy choir, for example, is one opportunity to get involved. Ian Bradshaw participated in this choir after being diagnosed with cancer in the voice box five years ago.

In this three-minute documentary, he talks about his story and his time with Shout At Cancer.

Special thanks go to Shout at Cancer, Lizz Summers and Ian Bradshaw.
